One of Thanksgiving's most enduring symbols is the cornucopia, an expression of the harvest that came from Greek mythology. While in that case it was a goat horn that Zeus accidentally broke off, today the cornucopia is typically represented as a basket full of the fruits of the season's harvest. What hasn't changed? The ancient cornucopia and the modern one both symbolize abundance, the results of our endeavors over the growing season, and the nourishment we take from our hearths and homes.
