They’re some of our must undersung heroes, working tirelessly to educate, nurture, inspire and protect some of our youngest and most helpless citizens. In between, they raise their own children. They are our best friends, sisters, aunts, mothers, colleagues and neighbors. Teachers and Nurses Appreciation Weeks run from May 6 through May 12 this year, a time to honor the people—mostly women, in these female dominated fields—who empower the rest of us.
