October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to renew our commitment to reduce the occurrence of the most common women’s cancer. All women, unfortunately, are at risk for breast cancer, with a woman in the United States having a 1 in 8 chance of developing breast cancer in her life. But there is very good news! When breast cancer is detected early and treated, survival rates are nearly 100 percent. So this month is especially important to educate women on the importance of screening and early detection.

Modeled after the red ribbon famous for AIDS advocacy, the pink ribbon is a prolific representation of solidarity with women.
